Designed to build a better business
We have been working for more than two years to achieve better energy, water and emissions savings throughout all our processes.
In late 2005, we proposed that with real-time data monitoring we could radically reduce our energy and water use at Madison, our US plant. In less than two months we had recognized and addressed areas of high energy use within equipment that we hadn’t noticed before. Identifying these inefficiencies also helped us to reduce our operating costs.
Following this success we have initiated a full-scale data management reporting system. The system is highly efficient. At our Madison plant in the US, our boilers send us text messages reporting discrepancies or problems in their operating cycles. Our vinyl manufacturing line has more than 75 individual check points reporting everything from temperature fluctuations, to heat loss, to line speed. In total, there are more than 1,500 individual data reports on how our system is performing, making us more efficient and minimizing any repair time.
